Joanna, Duchess of Brabant was born in 1322 and died in 1406. She was the daughter of Duke John III, and was the Duchess of Brabant and Limburg from 1355 to 1406. She married twice but had no children. She therefore named her great nephew – Antoine of Burgundy, uncle of the future Duke of Burgundy, Philip the Good – as her heir. She frequently spent time in Brussels and helped to enlarge and improve the ducal manor.
